Understanding Minimum Order Quantities
Many first time buyers are curious about minimum order quantities. This is understandable, not every new business can afford to order 100 thousand units of bottles. So how do order minimums work?
At Santa Clara Plastic Containers, our order minimums depend on the bottle. For custom molds, we can generally establish a lower volume of orders. But this does depend on specific factors like preform weight. We have more overview information about preforms here if you’re interested.

For our stock bottles, each bottle type has a unique order minimum. We do our best to provide a low barrier to entry for new businesses looking for bottle production, but some bottle profiles require more production time than others.
If you are interested in a stock item that we do a larger volume of in general, we can usually offer reasonable order number requirements. If you see a bottle in our inventory that interests you – inquire about the minimum order volume in your message. We’ll get back you as soon as possible:

Most US-based PET manufacturers consider orders below 10,000 units to be speciality or prototype volume, while 50,000+ units per SKU or bottle type is considered production scale.
Please refer to the table below for more insight into typical order volumes:
| Under 5,000 units | Very low / sample-scale |
| 5,000 – 10,000 units | Low order |
| 10,000 – 25,000 units | Small order |
| 25,000 – 100,000 units | Standard small production run |
Santa Clara Plastic Containers does our best to try and provide reasonable minimum order quantities for our customers. Let us know what your quantities are to see if we are a good fit for your production.
